Nikken has been recognized by the President of the United States for supporting a Healthy Society. In 2008 the company was honored with the President’s Call to Service Award.

This distinction acknowledges the participation of Nikken toward, in its words, “building a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility.” The award is conferred by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, given to individuals and groups in appreciation for serving the community and country.

Nikken speaker Susan Jeske nominated the company for this citation, with the result that Nikken merited this recognition for its support of a wide range of volunteer activities — and for the efforts of Nikken employees and Independent Nikken Consultants in making the world a better place. 

In 1994 Nikken established the Magnetic Health Science Foundation in Tokyo, Japan. To date Nikken has contributed in excess of $7 million in funding the foundation’s studies related to the application of magnetic technology in science and medicine.

University of California, Irvine

In 2003 Nikken made an endowment of $2 million to the University of California, Irvine Medical Center for a renovated, state-of-the-art facility named the Nikken Imaging Center. This included the procurement of advanced diagnostic equipment and support of imaging research. The gift also assisted in the construction of new hospital facilities at the Medical Center.

In addition to support contributed by the company, Nikken management and staff including Chairman T. Watanabe regularly participate in the annual conferences held by the Bioelectromagnetics Society. The Bioelectromagnetics Society is an independent organization dedicated to advancing the science of natural and applied electromagnetic fields.

Fundraising initiatives undertaken by Nikken have been successful in providing financial support to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that enriches the lives of children with serious medical conditions through its wish-granting work. Nikken has assisted the foundation in making a positive difference in the lives of these children and their families.

Through the contributions of Nikken and others, The Hunger Project has been of material success in alleviating the distress of millions worldwide.

Nikken has contributed support to Autism Speaks, the group dedicated to funding biomedical research toward the cause, prevention, treatment and cure for a condition that is diagnosed in 1 in 166 individuals each year. Following the introduction of the Nikken TriPhase™ Sport Bracelet, Autism Speaks received a direct donation representing 10% of the retail price of every bracelet purchased.
